Why Is My Gay Film Going Viral Here?!

My Gay short film about faith and identity hit 5.6 million views. I assumed my biggest audience would be the US or Europe... I was completely wrong. When I released my short film about what it's really like balancing being gay and religious, I just hoped it would connect with a few people. I never expected it to completely blow up and cross a staggering 5.6 million views. Naturally, I had to open up my YouTube analytics to see who was actually watching it. Normally, for LGBTQ+ media, you'd expect the biggest audiences to be in Western Europe, Canada, or the US. But the data proved me entirely wrong. The vast majority of my top ten countries are heavily conservative nations—places where being queer is deeply stigmatized, or in some cases, completely illegal. In this video, we are counting down from number ten to the absolute number one country that made this film go viral. Grab a drink, because this list gets wilder the further we go. If you are watching from any of these countries: I see you, I love you, and I appreciate you being a part of our global family.
