In the summer of 1941, the Izhevsk motorcycle plant was scheduled to launch mass production of a new motorcycle model, the IZH 12. This progressive motorcycle, based on the IZH-9 chassis, featured a completely new 4-stroke overhead-valve engine with a displacement of 350 cc. However, the outbreak of World War II thwarted the Izhevsk plant's plans, and it began producing motorcycles exclusively for the front. Today, a unique IZH-12 from a pre-production batch of 49 motorcycles is preserved in the collection of the Vadim Zadorozhny Museum of Technology.
