SLIPPY START for 61306 MAYFLOWER + D213 ANDANIA & 47805 Roger Hosking MA 1925-2013 on 'GOLDEN HIND'

We firstly we see LNER B1 61306 ‘Mayflower’ being prepared at Bishops Lydeard Westridge engine shed this morning, ready for its turn on Locomotive Services Group/ Saphos Trains ‘Golden Hind’ railtour bound for Plymouth, while West Somerset Railway locomotives are moved out of the shed to take up their turns on the heritage lines timetabled services between Bishops Lydeard and Minehead. The B1 soon eases off shed, and struggles to get to grips with the wet rails, performing some spectacular slips in the process! With 61306 'Mayflower' off shed and heading towards the mainline, we then move across to Taunton to catch the 1Z61 Nantwich - Plymouth 'Golden Hind' Saphos railtour, which arrived slightly late into Taunton with Class 40 D213/40013 'Andania' up front and Class 47 D1935/47805 'Roger Hosking MA 1925-2013' on the rear. The Class 40 heads off to stable in the sidings for the day, allowing the locomotive swap to take place with B1 61306 ‘Mayflower’ which steams back from the West Somerset Railway and connects to the railtour. Passengers get their chance to take photos and videos of the LNER B1 as she raises steam and whistles up before making an impressive departure in a rain shower, bound for Plymouth!
