Lost in Telford - Life Before Stafford Park Pt 3
Before the modern Telford town came into existence, the agricultural area of Stafford Park was home to mines that tunnelled deep under the towns and villages and farms that provided food for the local area. The Telford Ultimate Guide & Telford Memories embarked on a mission to discover the lost buildings and the stories behind them, and Part Three of their project is focused on Stafford Park. They explored the location of the old mines, where the worst mining disaster in Shropshire occurred, and uncovered many farms that used to be owned by Lord Stafford, including a medieval moat. Despite being hidden away in the modern industrial estate of Stafford Park, detailed site analysis and Lido technology, along with old maps, helped bring this story to life.
