After graduating from the Faculty of Law at Waseda University, he began creating manga while working as a salaryman. Starting with his first work, "Heart Cocktail," which was selected for the 13th Big Comic Award in 1974, Seizo Watase has continued to draw adult love stories since 1983, including his signature work "Heart Cocktail" and "Na," a love story about a couple living among Japan's beautiful scenery. He has also created numerous illustrations for government posters and corporate advertisements, and has held exhibitions both in Japan and abroad as an illustrator, earning recognition. From 2010 to 2018, he served as a specially appointed professor of "Japanese Cultural Studies (Representation)" at the Department of International Cultural Exchange, Faculty of Foreign Studies, Kanagawa University.
