Ep 5 | SEMI CIRCUMNAVIGATING VANCOUVER ISLAND Port Alberni - Port Renfrew - Hornby - Campbell River

Moving the Nootka Queen from Port Alberni to Campbell River, via the South end of Vancouver Island. We purchased the Nootka Queen while it was moored in Port Alberni. Every weekend for five weeks, Chris and I would drive to Port Alberni from Black Creek (250+ km round trip) to get the Queen ready for its maiden voyage under our ownership. She had sat without care for three years, so there was a lot to do. The entire boat needed to be scrubbed inside and out from bow to stern. Then we did a full mechanical inspection of the; systems, engines, generator, navigation equipment, safety equipment, serviced engine, gear and generator, stripped the racor housings and cleaned them, inspected the fuel tanks, replaced all impellers for; engines, generators, fire pumps and, freshwater pumps, installed life raft, installed back up VHF radio, and had spare props repaired and balanced. Lastly, we have the vessel surveyed by TEC Marine Surveying and then obtain insurance. We plotted our course with the assistance of our good friend, Captain Geoff. Booked the time off work, had Granny watch the dogs, purchased our provisions, and finally set a date to leave Port Alberni - June 28th 2020.
