In this video, we take an in-depth look at what's happening on Sections 2 and 3 of the Heroes of the Insurrection Highway, the most ambitious road infrastructure project in Nicaragua's history. Discover how this megaproject is progressing, connecting the five main entrances to Managua, from the Northern Highway to the Masaya Highway, forever changing urban mobility with a modern BRT system and high-capacity articulated buses. We explore the technical details of the current work, where the main focus is on deep drainage with more than 3 kilometers of high-capacity pipes in areas such as Jocote Dulce and Barrio Riguero. We show you how the urban landscape has changed after the dismantling of pedestrian bridges and iconic signs in key areas like the El Periodista Roundabout and Metrocentro, in preparation for the construction of the main roadway and the new overpasses at ENEL and Rubén Darío. We discuss the positive impact and challenges of this mega-project: from the expansion to 10 lanes (6 central and 4 peripheral) to move more than 850,000 people a day, to the creation of 1,500 direct jobs. We also highlight the environmental commitment with the relocation of trees to "Caminos del Río" and the preservation of iconic monuments like the Cristo Rey statue, which will be restored for its new location.
