VW Trucks was newly created in 1981, after the full acquisition of Chrysler do Brasil. The first models launched were the mid-size 11.130 and 13.130. The history of the ¾ trucks began in 1982, with the first models launched, the 6.80 and 6.90, with 6T of GVW. The 6.80 was equipped with a Perkins model 4236 diesel engine, with 4 cylinders, 3860cc, 85hp and 25.6kgfm of torque. The 6.90 had an MWM model 229 diesel engine, with 4 cylinders, 3920cc, 91hp and 26.5kgfm.
