Fire Emblem - The Ashen Demon (Inferno/Embers)

This video is a mix, or mashup, consisting of multiple variations on the battle music "The Ashen Demon" from the Fire Emblem series. It consists of soundtracks from the Nintendo Switch title known as Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes. The song “The Ashen Demon” harnesses the overwhelming dread when facing a formidable and seemingly heartless opponent. In a skirmish with the Ashen Demon themself, one is simply up against a powerhouse. Living up to their mighty befitting epithet, the Ashen Demon embodies sheer power and relentlessness. They will not hesitate to fulfill their duty—that is, to slay without fail. Radiating strength and accompanying success, the Ashen Demon’s next battle will imaginably not be their last. Consequently, engaging with the Ashen Demon results in one of two outcomes—to prevail or to die. With much tension built from fragments of the chromatic scale, the battle music captures disquietude that is only natural and additionally the great weight of the impending outcome. As the clash with the Ashen Demon begins, only one can survive—and another must fall. Besting such a strong foe would yield countless benefits. Yet in the midst of a confrontation with the fierce mercenary themself, solely one benefit matters in the moment—survival. As such, the unease does not cease to be within the tune—rather, it only continues to grow. Blades begin to strike; steel begins to clatter; horn rips mimicking such a duel become prevalent within the music. As battle breaks out, there is no other option but to win. A singular option remains—but also merely a singular opponent left to prevail over.
