In the world, it is a species with a practically European distribution, widespread and abundant in the north and center of the continent, and more fragmented in the south, where its presence is restricted to mountainous areas or during the wintering months. In Spain, which is the area we are concerned with, it is abundant as a breeder and has a continuous distribution in the Iberian Peninsula, the Iberian System, and the Central System. It is also present occasionally in other mountain ranges, such as the Sierra Nevada, the Maestrazgo, and Las Villuercas. In winter, individuals arrive from the rest of Europe, occupying practically the entire Iberian Peninsula, as well as the Balearic Islands and, occasionally, Ceuta and Melilla. It is absent from the Canary Islands. The dunnock lives from sea level to the highest mountains, in thickets along roads and paths, as well as in garden and farm hedges, plantations, forest edges, and mountain moors. Although it is a shy bird, it can sometimes be seen perched in the open, singing or searching for insects. If you want to learn more about this species, I invite you to watch the video.
