The Playmobil Argentina Expo reached its 50th edition, and I came to experience the true celebration of Playmobil collecting alongside more than 600 people, dioramas, and booths at the magnificent Salamanca Center in Buenos Aires. A 7-hour train journey to the capital city of my country, Argentina, to Buenos Aires, to celebrate the 50th edition of the Playmobil Argentina Expo at the historic Salamanca Center. It wasn't just another exhibition: it was a true national and international celebration that brought together more than 600 passionate fans of this beautiful toy; true Playmobil enthusiasts, demonstrating why this community is unique in the world. In this video, I wanted to capture the voices of its true protagonists: 🔹Stories of Passion and Micro-narratives: This time, I decided to do something different. I dedicated myself to recording the testimonies of friends and colleagues in the community. In total, 12 brave souls stepped in front of the camera to share their connections and stories about their obsession with collecting and what Playmobil means in their lives. Although the convention felt far too short, and I was left wanting to interview many more, these experiences reflect the true heart of Argentine collecting. 🔹An Impressive Display: The expo featured a spectacular diorama created by Juan Dethloff and his family, renowned for having the largest Playmobil collection in Argentina. Furthermore, the event was packed with families, fans, and enthusiasts of all ages, including international visitors who traveled especially from Uruguay and Chile not to miss this anniversary. 🔹Much More Than Toys: With nearly 30 vendor booths overflowing with plastic treasures—loose figures and new and vintage boxes, vehicles, accessories, merchandise, and custom items—the market was in full swing! For the little ones, cartoonist and graphic humorist Claudio Kappel led a drawing workshop for all ages, teaching them how to create Playmobil figures with pencil and paper. 🔹The 50th edition set the bar incredibly high and demonstrated that collecting in Argentina is, above all, a big family.
