Lady of the Pier |Devotion Part 5 - FINAL|

After thoughts: I've had hours to think this game over while it was rendering and have some clearer thoughts. What I've gathered is the parents were constantly fighting over money, the fathers spending and it ended up causing the daughter to have things like anxiety and whatnot (the breathing and the doctors not finding anything wrong, recommending mental health assessments) The father was scammed by a woman claiming that by praying and giving her money that his daughter would be cured. The father spent all his money on this idea and refused to believe his daughter needed therapy. The times where she was better were times where the family was happy or spending time together. This was taken as the scam artist working instead of the obvious "Your family just needs to work through the issues and be happier", The mother left wanting to make money so she could move the family to a new home away from the scam artist and all the negatives. The absence of her mother caused Mei to further spiral and in turn made the father desperate for a solution. Leading to him going to the scam artist and making this "wine" that Mei would then bath in for a week straight while locked in the bathroom. We know he was scammed when he walks through the apartment when the scam artist stops answering calls. He finds tapes of others that had been scammed and by that point he goes to check on Mei only to find that she had died. The scene after the credits is where I'm at a loss as to whether he died on the couch and we are just looking at a corpse OR if he is just spending the rest of his days rewatching the performance videos and reflecting on his poor choices. On the main menu after completion you will hear knocking on the door but no answers. Which further pushes the point of is the father alone and depressed in the apartment OR is he dead and not able to answer? Overall an absolutely amazing game that is well worth the price point. This game contains scenes of explicit violence and gore. Some parts of this game may be considered violent or cruel. Story: You step into your apartment, 80s music drifts through the air, an idol show plays on the television; a nostalgic setting surely, but what is this feeling of unease? You question this place you used to call “home,” noticing as it distorts with every shift of your eyes, anxious as your surroundings skirt the precipice of the extraordinary.
