The warm and humid climate of the country is very suitable for guava cultivation. Guava is being widely produced especially in the regions of Jessore, Barisal, Chapainawabganj, Pirojpur, Narayanganj, and Comilla. Guava trees generally yield good yields with little care and bear fruit several times a year. The period from June to September and from November to January is considered as the season for guava cultivation. The best yield is obtained if there is sandy-loam soil and adequate drainage for cultivation. For commercial cultivation, it is better to use improved varieties such as Golden 8, Bari Guava-1 and Bari Guava-2. Fruits start coming within 3-4 months of grafting or planting. An average of 80-100 kg of fruit can be obtained from each tree per year. With proper care, fertilizer management and pest control, it is possible to make more profit at less cost in guava cultivation. Currently, many farmers are getting more yield by using modern grafting methods, bagging (wrapping guava in bags) and organic farming technology. In addition, in addition to the local market, Bangladeshi guava is being exported to foreign markets (especially the Middle East and Europe), which is playing a major role in the economy.
