A shooting occurred at around 5 a.m. this morning in a commercial office building in Taichung's West District. The suspect opened fire on the first-floor entrance, riddling the glass with bullet holes. Police investigations revealed that the building housed a guesthouse, with frequent nighttime traffic. The suspect allegedly had a drunken altercation in the early hours of the morning, and, after returning home, became increasingly angry, returning to the scene with a submachine gun and firing more than 10 shots in a fit of rage. After the crime, he took more than 20 rounds of ammunition and surrendered to police in Miaoli.
