How to drive EV car to Thailand ? Epic International Road Trip KL to Phuket | Tesla Model Y Legacy

Time Stamp: 00:00 - Intro 01:41 - Autiopilot 02.21 - Penang Tesla Supercharger 03:30 - Crossing Border 08:15 - Hatyai Hotel 09:50 - Day 2 10:50 - Hatyai Tesla Supercharger 14:00 - EV Apps needed 16:04 - The Sands Khao Lak 16:50 - Day 3 18:15- Charging in Khao Lak 21:08 - Day 4 25:13 - Tesla would not charge The total journey for our KL to Phuket road trip was abit longer at about 1200km. This is because we stopped by Khao Lak (mainly because we wanted to visit The Sands Resort). One can drive to Phuket without stopping by Khao Lak, fyi. Overall, the drive was pleasant, the road was well maintained and the road users were very civilised (rarely hear any honking or encounter any road hogging issues) #Tesla #evroadtrip #travelvlog Below are some of my view about the trip. Mini Travel 1982 They’d help us with the preparation of the forms needed to enter Thailand and the car insurance. Their HQ is near the border, you can pick them up just before crossing the border. It’s a 1-stop solution service provider. Their replies (via whatsapp) were fast too. Highly recommended. Crossing the border - It was a straight forward process as long as you have all the documents and remember to keep the TM forms with you throughout the journey as you will need to return it upon exit. Failure to do so will result in a fine. Make sure you have some local money too because there is a fee for foreigner. Range Anxiety - Surprisingly there werent much range anxiety despite the Tesla being a standard range ( ~450km) only, and the fact that there weren’t many public Tesla chargers around the Phuket area. This is because Thailand’s own EV charging network is quite well-established. You can find a fast charge station almost every 50km. Their app was easy to use too. Hotels - Hatyai Stop - Buri Sriphu Hotel - Value for money, covered parking, added bonus for having its own charging facilities. The hotel location is also very strategic, located just a stone’s throw away from Hatyai Central Mall. Khao Lak stop - The Sands - Excellent resort with reasonable price. The resort was loaded with things to do, whether for kids or adults. The breakfast was nice too for my Asian taste buds. The downside there are many things to do outside of the resort since it’s a relatively small town. Overall. Highly recommend Phuket Stop - Courtyard by Marriott - Mostly disappointed with the condition of the room and the cleanliness. The pool was ok and the kids club can be quite boring (not much to do) for older kids. However, it’s located in the heart of Patong beach and has a super charger at door step, it’s very convenient. Overall, I would not come here again, at least not with my kids.
