Make your own characters in RPG Maker easy! [Custom Assets in RPG Maker Tutorial]

Hey guys! It’s Lorelei, and today I’m bring you a new tutorial series all about making and using your own custom assets in RPG Maker. Whether you’re an artist or (like me) not really an artist, this video is for you! We’ll go through how to create your own character graphics, set up event animations, and format autotiles. I’ll show you step-by-step how to set up character sheets, what the different file formats mean, and how to get your custom characters walking around in the game. We’ll also look at some examples of characters, chests, and doors to understand how they work in RPG Maker’s engine. If you’ve got your own methods, please drop them in the comments—I’d love to hear how you do things! This tutorial is divided into three chapters: making characters and events, creating autotile floors and walls, and designing cliffs and other B, C, D, and E tiles. I’ll be focusing on hand-drawn art because I feel like there’s already a ton of pixel art tutorials out there. I’m using an old Intuos tablet and Adobe software, but feel free to use whatever works for you—just make sure it has a pattern mode for those autotiles! By the end of this video, you’ll know how to format and set up your own characters and have them moving around in-game.
