You can fast from social media, entertainment, TV shows—anything that takes your heart away from God. True fasting requires prayer, God’s Word, and seeking His will. 2. There are different levels of fasting I don’t practice it. I do it formally. I fast because of a problem/need. I fast for a deeper relationship with God—the highest level. 3. Jesus teaches: fasting should be secret, without show. True fasting is only between a person and God, not for others to see spirituality. 4. The heart of the sermon—Isaiah 58: what kind of fast did God choose? God rejects religious, external fasting and reveals what fasting accepts: ✅ to break the chains of injustice ✅ to free the oppressed ✅ to reconcile with people ✅ to help the poor ✅ to share bread with the hungry ✅ to clothe the one who has nothing ✅ not to hide from relatives ✅ to do charity during fasting That is, fasting is not only about “not eating”, but about changing the heart and serving others. 5. God’s promises to those who fast correctly.
