If you don't want to use char cloth or don't have any, you can catch different tinder on fire easier than a napkin--newspaper works better, as do some dry grasses/organic material. Char cloth just speeds the process up regardless of the tinder you choose to use and makes getting a fire started a lot more reliable. Cameo appearances by my crazy dog.
