During World War II, Alex, an 11-year-old Jewish boy, lives alone in the Warsaw Ghetto. "Don't move, I'll come for you," his father told him before being rounded up by the Nazis. He finds refuge on the top floor of a bombed-out building. His only companion is a pet mouse. He soon meets the young Stasya, and his hiding place becomes a shelter for a wounded resistance fighter.
