AS Biology - Oxygen dissociation curve (OCR A Chapter 8.4)
The oxygen dissociation curve shows how haemoglobin binds to oxygen (that's it really!). Its sigmoid shape shows haemoglobin's positive cooperativity behaviour. We can then look at the curve when the haemoglobin is in different situations (Bohr effect) or even as a different type of haemoglobin (fetal vs. adult), which show us if the haemoglobin is ready to bind to oxygen or to lose it.
