Underwater Drone Footage Moosehead Lake, Sunken Plane Locating and Recovery Mission
@MFEGoingDeep on Saturday, September 6th at the International Seaplane Fly-In located at Moosehead Lake, a 1946 Grumman G-44A Widgeon crash landed in the water. The Pilot thankfully survived and escaped the Plane to be rescued by a nearby boater. However, the Plane sank into the depths of the Lake. This is the story and video footage documenting locating the Plane the following day 128’ down at the bottom of the Lake and the recovery efforts to raise it up and get it back to shore. We get to observe Greg Canders, a well known recovery diver, head down into the darkness and watch as he sets up the plane with air bags to float it to the surface and the exciting moment it comes shooting up! The Plane made it up on dry land Thursday, September 11th. An amazing effort and job by the entire team and I appreciated a chance to participate in and assist with this project.
