2026 InnoHive #6 Innovating in Justice: Enabling the conditions for ideas to become impact
This session offers an inside look at how the Ministry of Justice approaches innovation in one of the most complex, high stakes public systems. Drawing on practical experience from across prisons, courts, probation and policy, it explores how the MoJ innovation team enables innovation at scale — not by running every project centrally, but by building the conditions that allow good ideas to emerge, be tested responsibly and, where they work, to scale. Participants will hear how we balance innovation with risk, trust and public accountability; how we use pathways to delivery, diagnostics and funding mechanisms to move from ideas to impact; and what we’ve learned about creating the capability, opportunity and motivation for innovation to thrive in operational environments. The session is designed for innovation leaders looking for honest lessons, transferable tools and a grounded perspective on innovating when the stakes truly matter.
