THIS CAKE IS A VERSION OF THE ENGLISH CAKE, WHICH ARRIVED IN PERNAMBUCO DURING THE COLONIZATION ERA. FRUITS FROM OUR REGION WERE ADDED TO THIS CAKE. AS PERNAMBUCO WAS THE LARGEST SUGAR PRODUCER, EVERYTHING HERE WAS TURNED INTO SWEETNESS. PLUM, GUAVA, AND LEMON JAM WAS ALL ADDED TO THE CAKE. THE COMBINATION OF THE SWEET ORANGE PEELS AND THE CHOPPED GREEN PAPAYA WAS TRANSFORMED INTO CANDIED FRUIT. WITH A VERY STRONG, BUT DELICIOUS, SMELL AND FLAVOR, THIS CAKE IS MADE WITH MOSCATEL WINE, WHICH FACILITATES IT TO PRESERVE FOR A YEAR. It's common for brides to wrap and store it for a year to celebrate their first wedding anniversary.
