#100 - Wade Mainer (interview by Mike Seeger), feat. Julia Mainer
www.patreon.com/banjopodcast Our 100th episode!! This one is a recorded interview with the late banjo legend Wade Mainer and his wife, Julia ("Hilbilly Lilly") Mainer- in an interview conducted by folk legend Mike Seeger. Wade was a pre-Earl Scruggs fingerstyle (2-finger) banjoist, and became a legendary country performer and a major influence on early bluegrass music. He even performed at the White House for Franklin Delano and Eleanor Roosevelt! This recording is from Midwest Banjo Camp 2007, and I have retained the only known copy ever since. It is unedited, except for some processing to improve audio quality. Sponsored by Peghead Nation, GHS Strings, and Elderly Instruments. Contact the show: [email protected]
