This is Husain - Leader of The Youth of Paradise This is a wonderful poem (manqabat) written in honour of the great Imam, leader of the youth of Paradise, the Prophet's flower and grandson, Syeduna Imam Husain (Allah be pleased with him). It is written by Abu al-Athar Hafeez Jalandhari (May Allah shower his mercy on him). It's poetic style and rythm is exceptional, but the greatest quality of this poem is that it portrays a picture of the grit and courage possessed by Syeduna Imam Husain (Allah be pleased with him). The poem does not invoke pity and sadness for his situation at Karbala as some poems do, rather it paints a true image of how determined and brave the Great Imam (Allah be pleased with him) was for standing up for truth, justice and freedom against the tyranny and oppression of Yazid. Imam Husain's stand against Yazid is a true story of heroism and a real example of the ultimate sacrifice for the sake of doing the right thing. It is a reminder to us all of, not only what can happen when one is blinded by greed and ambition but also what must be done by the righteous in the face of such evil. The life of Syeduna Imam Husain (Allah be pleased with him) gives us hope and saves us from despair when we face chellenging situations in our own lives. May Allah Almighty increase His great favour upon and elevate further, the lofty rank of the family of our Noble Master (Peace be upon him). May Allah Almighty bless Hafeez for composing such a magnificent poem to increase the love of Syeduna Imam Husain (Allah be pleased with him) in our hearts. Aameen. Note: The term noor-e-'ayn has been used in the chorus and we have used the term as it is in the translation. Noor-e-'ayn is from the Arabic "noor al-'ayn" which means light of the eye, as in the expression, "you are the light of my eyes." So it means beloved; and this sentence means that Syeduna Imam Husain (Allah be pleased with him) is the beloved of the Prophet .
