Laura Ann Aime Press Conference

On 04/01/2026, the Utah County Sheriff's Office held a press conference concerning the murder of Laura Ann Aime. DNA testing was conducted on evidence swabs from the case, said tests were conducted at the Utah State Forensics Lab. The Lab submitted the test results into the Combined DNA Index System (CODIS) and received a hit on the DNA profile. The Utah State Lab worked with a Forensics Lab in Florida to confirm that the DNA profile was a match for Theodore "Ted" Bundy. The UCSO Investigative team was informed of the results recently. We then informed the family of Laura Ann Aime of the results and can now officially close this case. The Aime family has been waiting nearly 52 years for this, and we hope they can find some closure for the loss of Laura. The Utah County Sheriff's office is very grateful for the combined effort of our Investigative team and our CSI team. Our CSI team kept the evidence well preserved and in pristine condition, so much so that if we were able too, we could present the evidence in a courtroom today, 52 years later. We are very grateful for our partnership with the Utah Department of Public Safety and the State Forensics Lab. Their recent advancements in DNA testing help make today possible. We all hope that Laura Ann Aime may rest in peace and again offer our condolences to the Aime family.
