BLACK CANYON in the Petungkriyono Forest, Ciblon's Paradise Black Canyon Petungkriyono may sound like the Grand Canyon in the United States. However, Black Canyon is a true tourist destination native to Pekalongan Regency, Central Java. This place features a waterfall consisting of terraced pools flanked by black rock cliffs. Black Canyon is located in Kayupring Village, Petungkriyono District, Pekalongan Regency, Central Java Province. It is nestled in a valley among lush green hills. If you start from downtown Pekalongan, the distance is approximately 30 km, taking about an hour. From the Pantura Road, head towards Kajen towards Watusalam Road. Once you arrive in Doro District, continue your journey directly towards Petungkriyono District. Simply follow the road until you reach your destination. The route will be winding and winding due to its mountainous location. The entrance fee for Black Canyon is IDR 10,000, which includes parking. If you want to rent a life jacket and river tubing equipment, you'll need to pay an additional IDR 10,000. Similarly, renting a camping spot and pitching your own tent costs the same amount, IDR 10,000 per spot. Before it was known as Black Canyon, this place was actually called Kedung Sipingit Petungkriyono. It was named Kedung Sipingit because of the haunted nature of the Welo River. It comes from the word "singit," which means haunted in Indonesian. However, over time, through developing a contemporary brand, local youth began promoting Kedung Sipingit Petungkriyono as a tourist destination under the name Black Canyon. It was named Black Canyon because of the jet-black rock walls along the river. At Petungkriyono Black Canyon, you can take advantage of the Welo River's flow for various water activities. These include river tracking, river tubing, or body rafting. These activities are supported by various equipment available for rent from the local management. You can also enjoy the crystal clear water by simply taking a dip or playing in the water. Locals call it "ciblon," or playing in the water. You can also spend the night here by camping on the designated area. The local management has provided a space for visitors who wish to rent a camping spot. The most important thing is to capture the moment. Take photos with family or friends, of course, with the stunning and pristine natural scenery as a backdrop.
