When to cultivate Maize for silage purpose || Crop Reformer

Maize fodder is mostly planted through broadcast method in the moist soil. This practice is fairly successful in loam and healthy soils. In this video, we have advised the farmers to plant maize fodder through broadcasting of 35 kg maize seed in the soil but ridges should be augmented with the help of ridger or bed shaper at a distance of 2.5 to 3.0 feet depending upon soil health and condition. Ridge sowing or bed planting of maize fodder provides better germination even in clayey and salt affected soils but it grows more faster, mature earlier than common drill sowing or broadcast methods. Maize is one of the precious crop of our country and stands at second place after wheat in usage and value.
