We decided to conduct an unusual experiment—we removed magic, demons, and apostles to look at the world of people without embellishment. The result was unexpected: beneath the layer of dark aesthetics, a ringing emptiness was revealed. In this video, we "together" literally "touch the grass" in the world of Berserk and discover how well-developed it is as a fantasy setting. Why is Midland's politics primitive, and the Tudor-Midland war simply a showdown over who's the boss of this gym? Is the religion of the Holy See truly original, or is it a carbon copy of the Catholic Church? How do artifacts of the past, omens, and magical laws work (and do they work at all)? And the main question: is Berserk a good fantasy, or is it a great drama accidentally masquerading as a fantasy world? We'll compare Miura's universe with other genre classics: Joe Abercrombie's "The Circle of the Earth," Dragon Age, and even The Witcher. You'll see where the creator of "Berserk" attempted to create depth and where he limited himself to superficial cliches.
