Matthew 16 - King James Version | The Christ, The Son Of The Living God

The religious leaders asked Jesus for another sign, yet they completely missed the greatest miracle standing before them. The Son of the living God had come into the world, and many could not see who He truly was. Then Jesus asked the question every heart must answer, and the Father revealed the greatest truth a person could ever know: Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God. Every true believer is built upon that Rock: the confession that Jesus Christ is the Son of the living God. Jesus also began preparing His disciples for what was ahead. The Christ they had been waiting for would rescue His people not by avoiding the cross, but by embracing it. He would willingly lay down His life, rise again in victory, and accomplish the salvation that only He could provide. Even those who loved Him most had to learn that God’s plan was far greater than they could yet understand. Jesus then invited His disciples to follow Him with their whole lives. The One who gave everything to save us is worthy of everything we are. There is nothing this world can offer that compares to knowing Christ, for the Savior who first came in humility will one day return in glory. The Father still delights to reveal His Son.
