A rice cooker is an electric pot for cooking rice and some other grains with an automatic readiness detection and reheat function. It consists of a housing with a lid and a bowl that fits into the housing on a heating element. Rice is the basis for a huge number of dishes. You can continue to cook it in a saucepan the old-fashioned way or invest in a rice cooker. This electric appliance can cook not only rice but also other grains and even pilaf.
