We sometimes catch ourselves wondering how nice it would’ve been if we had found each other sooner. But to be brutally honest, the 20s versions of ourselves were NOWHERE ready for this marriage. Before we could figure out what we wanted in a serious partner, we both had to go through our own separate journeys—building up the career, getting the finances in order, taking care of family, unpacking some of the values we grew up with, and healing from the heavy heartbreaks of past relationships.
