BL Mazda 3: Why is my door open light on when the door is closed? 2009 2010 2011 2012 2013 2nd gen

In this video I demonstrate how to replace a faulty door lock actuator in a BL Mazda 3, also known as a 2nd generation Mazda 3, manufactured between 2009 and 2013. A faulty door lock actuator will cause the door open light to illuminate in error, and will also cause you to not be able to lock the car with the key fob. If your interior light is set to be door activated, it will also cause the interior light to flicker on and off. The part number for Genuine OEM Mazda outer door skin fasteners is GJ6A-68-AB1. However, any auto parts store will have aftermarket ones that work just as well. In subsequent repairs, I worked out that if I removed the bottom regulator nut only (leaving the top nut attached), then I still had enough space to move things in and out, but the reassembly was much easier. You probably still need the window close to fully up (maybe a whisker down) so that there is enough space to move the reg in and out. I also found that the new after-market window regs on eBay work perfectly. For RHD cars (like in Australia), you don't need to worry if the front left reg is from a LHD car. It just means that it will have an extra lever that you can just ignore. I don't bother repairing old ones or using second-hand ones. The new ones are cheap and effective.
