Tinghir is situated 168 kilometres from Merzouga and about 350 kilometres from Marrakech, making it an ideal rest stop on the way to the Sahara Desert. The city, founded in the early 20th century, is home to a population of around 42,000 people. It's nestled between the High Atlas and the Sahara, offering breathtaking views and a serene atmosphere. During our stay, we explored the best accommodation in the city, Saghora Hotel. This hotel is a true oasis on the way to the desert, providing a perfect blend of comfort and authenticity. The hotel offers stunning views, traditional Moroccan hospitality, and a great place to relax before the next leg of our journey. A Taste of Tinghir: For dinner, we enjoyed a traditional Moroccan meal featuring meatball tagine with vegetables, pasta, and chicken skewers. While the dinner was satisfying, it wasn't particularly special. However, it was a great way to experience the local cuisine and immerse ourselves in the culture. Onward to the Sahara Desert: After our time in Tinghir, we set off for the Giant Sahara Desert. This part of the journey was nothing short of spectacular. We spent a night in traditional Berber tents under the starry sky, surrounded by the vast expanse of sand dunes.
