How to Add Thicker Arm Padding to a Goalie Chest Protector
Quick tutorial on how to quickly beef up the arm padding on your hockey goalie chest & arm protector. Unfortunately, I mis-spoke one time and also forgot about a pattern modification that I needed to make as well, so I posted some corrections below. Forgive me - still new to this youtube thing and shooting everything in one take caused some problems! CORRECTIONS: The EVA foam that I used is a CLOSED cell foam, not an open cell foam. Open cell foams absorb moisture while closed cell foams do not, so you don't want to use an open cell foam here as it will soak up a ton of sweat. Here's the link to the foam I used: https://www.mcmaster.com/86095K21/ When I added the new 1/2" thick EVA pad to the existing padding, I forgot that this new setup was going to be too thick to fit in the arm pocket properly. I made this same modification to my own Vaughn chest protector a few months ago and ran into the same problem - I just forgot about that when I shot this video. However, if you reduce the size of the new pad by 1/4" on each border (compared to the original pad), everything fits nice and snug.
