CEMETERY OF THE FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH OF WOODBRIDGE NJ

CEMETERY OF THE FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH OF WOODBRIDGE NJ Know locally as "The White Church" Located at 600 Rahway Avenue in Woodbridge Township, Middlesex County, New Jersey, United States, one of the first townships established in the state at the end of the 17th century. Its congregation was founded in 1675. The property was added to the National Register of Historic Places on May 2, 2008. The oldest headstone in the cemetery dates from 1690. In this burial yard are to be found patriots of all the wars of the United States - Indian and Colonial; Revolutionary, 1812, Civil, Spanish-American, and the late World Wars. Some 300 years later, as a kid, I belonged to a youth group that would have (chaperoned) coed sleepover parties in the hall of this church. We would sneak in booze and have seances in the cemetery at night. We also brought guitars and drums and such and would set up on the stage in the auditorium and have pretend concerts to impress the girls. Great childhood friendships and memories. No cameras or recorders for us back then. We just enjoyed the experience. I found a directory or registry of graves 1 through 800 gathered & compiled by Freeman Worth Gardner.
