In our series "Turkey's Markets," featuring my chef, Coşkun Aral, we're now at the Tire Market. The Tire Market is a market many of our followers have been eagerly awaiting. It wouldn't be right to miss this famous market, one of the world's most prestigious. That's why we're so excited. Spread across the streets of Tire, the Tire Market begins every Tuesday morning at 8:30 a.m. with a prayer service, creating a truly special spectacle. The market is as large as it is diverse. You can find almost everything the season has to offer. It's a market heavily populated by women and locals, and a large portion of the produce is locally grown. In the Tire Market section, we were guided by Yılmaz Göçmen, a well-known local teacher. He shared both the district's history and culture with us. We thank him once again. In this section, we shopped for the famous Tire Meatballs. However, we learned the answer to the question of how Tire Meatballs are made from Lütfü Çakır, the chef at Kaplan Dağ Restaurant, one of the district's most renowned chefs. We didn't stop there; we made a little-known but amazing eggplant dish, "Patlıcan Lalengi," also known as "Eggplant Fish," using locally grown eggplants. We also learned how to make Eggplant Lalengi from Chef Lütfü. Another dish of the day was artichokes. This time, we decided to include dessert in our menu, so we made fig yumması (a type of dessert). It added flavor to our table and our day. A Ford Kuga accompanied us to the Tire Market, where we had a lot of fun and learned new things.
