Tosca cake is a very popular dessert on Romanian tables both during the holidays and for special occasions. It consists of a top made of egg whites with poppy seeds and coconut and a vanilla cream. We also have a layer of biscuits at the end and a generous layer of chocolate sauce. Therefore, a dessert that contains many ingredients that most of us like. Moreover, this makes it very well known and loved. The top is made of egg whites, poppy seeds, coconut, flour, sugar, a little salt and baking powder. If you beat the whites well enough that they remain firm even if you turn the bowl, I assure you that the top will not fall after baking. Next comes the vanilla cream layer. We prepare this quickly and easily from the remaining yolks. To these we add milk, starch, sugar and vanilla essence. Alternatively, you can opt for vanilla beans or vanilla extract as I did in the recipe. I recommend using starch, not vanilla pudding. This is because, since we are preparing a homemade dessert, let's try to make it healthier than the store-bought ones. The next layer is made up of biscuits that I soaked in unsweetened coffee syrup. I used petit beurre because they are more aromatic and aerated than other varieties. Another plus of them is that they soak in syrup quickly and easily. Finally, I quickly prepared a layer of chocolate sauce. I made it from dark chocolate and unsweetened natural liquid cream. This chocolate sauce (chocolate ganache) goes perfectly with all the flavors in the cake, but especially with the coffee flavor in the biscuits. So, if you want a fragrant dessert, full of flavors and color, with an airy and creamy texture, with poppy seeds, coconut and vanilla cream, dressed in a fine chocolate sauce, this is the perfect dessert. I recommend it wholeheartedly for the Christmas meal! You will make a beautiful face with this and I am sure your friends will ask for the recipe!
