Transcript: At 16 weeks, you may be feeling both peppier and hungrier, though indigestion and gas may be on the rise too. That, and your uterus, which is gradually moving on up. What's going on inside of your ever-expanding belly this week? For one thing, your little boxer is working up to fighting weight. At anywhere from 3 to 4 ounces, with a crown-to-rump length of 4 to 5 inches, your avocado-size fetus is starting to gain some muscle mass with stronger back muscles, enabling the body to straighten out even more. Stronger muscles also allow your cutie to practice making facial expressions. Talking about that cuter-by-the-day face, your baby's eyes are facing fully forward and framed by a fringe of eyelashes and tiny eyebrows. And though the eyelids are still sealed shut and will stay that way for another 10 weeks or so, the eyes are finally working. In other news, your little one's ticker is pumping around 25 quarts of blood per day. That sounds like a lot of pumping action going on, but it's only the beginning. By the time your baby is ready to debut, that little heart will be pumping 300 quarts a day.
