joiz in the hood: Tommy Vercetti & Dezmond Dez "Glanton Gang" - Exklusivinterview

Ten years have passed since the two Bernese rappers Tommy Vercetti and Dezmond Dez caused a stir in the local rap scene with their Cheftape series. This was followed by support from German superstar Kool Savas, acclaimed solo albums, literary prizes, tours throughout Switzerland, and success with the intercantonal supergroup Eldorado FM. Now the duo presents their first collaborative album, "Glanton Gang," released on their own label, Eldorado Records. The name comes from a bounty hunter group in Cormac McCarthy's novel "Blood Meridian," which served as a strong inspiration for the album in many respects. The album painstakingly attempts to find accurate images and models for societal processes, pinpointing the power structures where they operate—precision rather than evocative platitudes. Glanton Gang is a baroque, over-the-top epic that can't be fully grasped in a single listen: Angry, poetic, and rich in metaphor, the album's lyrics reach heights previously unheard of in Swiss rap. Musically, the album was masterfully underscored by German platinum-selling producer Sir Jai (Kool Savas).
