Surviving Nauyaca Waterfall Hike Costa Rica - Hiking with Kids

We hiked Nauyaca Waterfall in Costa Rica with our two girls. We would classify the hike as “moderate”, although it feels more difficult in the heat. One of us didn’t hydrate properly, so there was a bit of a struggle. This visit took place mid-March during the dry season. This was not the Nauyaca Waterfall Nature Park We didn’t start the hike until around 11am, which wasn’t a great decision on our end. We definitely recommend starting as early in the day as possible. There is an option for transportation back to the office, or you can hike back. Even if you didn’t schedule transport back to the office, if there is availability you can pay cash on the spot for a ride. We saw lots of people jumping off of the falls, the water was cold but amazing, and we spent quite a bit of time sitting in the water enjoying the surroundings. We would HIGHLY recommend taking water shoes (and lots of water) with you. The rocks are really slippery in the water and sometimes hard to navigate. Would we hike Nauyaca again? Absolutely! We would do some things different though to make the hike more comfortable and easier to navigate. Have you hiked Nauyaca? If so, drop your experience below in the comments! Thanks for watching!
