How to check a Car Battery with a Hydrometer

You can get the Hydrometer here - http://amzn.to/2iRJ7ZG You can get the load tester here - http://amzn.to/2j0mGio How to check the battery on your car or truck. In this quick video demonstrate how to use an inexpensive hydrometer to check the specific gravity of each battery cell. On a 12V car battery there are often 6 two volt cells in series that produce the 12 volts our vehicles are designed for. Typically they will measure about 12.5 - 13 volts when charged up and not under load. You can check this with a voltmeter as well. A weak battery will exhibit characteristics like the lights dimming when you turn the engine off at night, or the lights will get brighter as you rev the engine. This can be the sign of a weak battery. Weak batteries eventually fail leaving you stranded or at a minimum cause you some inconveniences. Hope this helps someone out there! Take care, Clay
