Contraceptivo Implanon vai ser oferecido pelo SUS

Implanon is a new contraceptive implant that will be offered by the Brazilian Unified Health System (SUS), facilitating access for many women to a method considered safe and effective. Measuring just four centimeters, it is placed under the skin of the arm and releases the hormone etonogestrel, preventing pregnancy for up to three years. The SUS approval promises to increase the availability of this method, which was already offered on a limited basis at CAISM (Women's Hospital). With advantages such as reduced hormonal load and ease of use, Implanon represents an important advance in family planning and women's health in Brazil. The Ministry of Health intends to distribute 1.8 million Implanon units as a strategy to reduce maternal mortality by 25%.
