90's Kids | Standup Comedy

Kids who grew up in the 90s were subject to various choonay! This was our first attempt at trying to level up in the stand-up comedy scene in Pakistan. The nature of stand-up comedy is such that each joke must go through various iterations and undergo many revisions in front of different audiences before it is 'ready'. This is usually accomplished via open mic nights. However, the challenge we faced was that since we would perform at the same venue in DHA/Clifton, invariably the same people would come and the objectives of neither party were accomplished. Fortunately, due to the following amassed via digital platforms, we were able to break out of the DHA bubble and attract audiences elsewhere. Therefore, for the very first time in Karachi (and Pakistan too in all likelihood), we did four open mic nights across four different weeks and locations in Karachi i.e. Zamzama, Tipu Sultan, Gulistan e Johar and North Nazimabad. Which each show we were able to slightly improve on the previous performance and get a unique audience each time. This culminated in a final showcase in which we reinvested all the ticket money (no sponsors) and recorded what you are watching right now. Following this, we also managed to do stand-up comedy shows this year for the first time ever in Hyderabad, Multan, Faisalabad and Peshawar! It is by no stretch of the imagination perfect. But we've set out on the right path and you will see more and more such high quality videos (production wise at least :D) soon! Thank you for reading.
