Ballingry Flooding

Our problems start with the overflow from Gruoch's Well up on the hill. A new watercourse is running down over the farm road into the field behind Dunmore Place and then the run off from the field adds to it as it makes it's way to Kirktoun Park. When it gets there it bursts through into the back gardens with some of it going under those homes and re-emerging at the pavement. By that time it's picked up a good amount of soil, sediment and stones which you can see are deposited on the road. Joining the burn there is excess water from Hill Road and it merges into a torrent running down the footpath between the Dallas Doyle and Ballingry Cemetery before it bursts onto Navitie Park flooding the street there. It's not a new thing, I'm told it's been going on for 60+ years so basically just another one of those things everyone has become used to. The good news is that there is new provision available via legislation written by the Scottish Government and we can request that the responsible stakeholders address the issue. The three main agencies are SEPA, Scottish Water and Fife Council. ( I hear you lol ) The Scottish Government have supremacy in terms of ensuring they all come together and do what the law says they must so I'm optimistic that we can get this dealt with. We'll see how it goes anyway.
