Jessie Johnnie on Learning the Tlingit Language
Recorded in September of 2011, this was Shgatéʼs response when asked what students of Lingít Yoo X̱ʼatángi need in order to succeed. She asked to send a message to students of the language. She was Chookansháa from Xúnaa, but lived in Sitka during the time that I knew her. I always learned from her, and felt spiritually strengthened by her words and presence. Shgaté walked into the forest on August 1, 2012.
