What Made Stephanie Casberg’s Case So Unusual?

In July 1969, 17-year-old Stephanie Casberg walked out of her shift at Marc’s Big Boy restaurant in Milwaukee, Wisconsin  and vanished. Days later, her remains were discovered along the Root River near 8 Mile Road in Racine County, Wisconsin. What investigators found at the scene pointed to something deeply disturbing: careful, methodical dismemberment, evidence spread across multiple locations, and signs that the person responsible had time, control, and familiarity with the area. More than 50 years later, this case remains unsolved. In this video, Ashley Flowers and Brit Prawat break down Stephanie Casberg’s final known movements on July 6–7, 1969, the evidence discovered in Racine County and Franklin, Wisconsin, the suspects who have come under scrutiny over the decades, and the new lead that may connect this case to a larger pattern of crimes. From coworkers and local suspects… to a man whose own family accused him… to a possible connection uncovered through a Crime Junkie investigation, this case has taken investigators in every direction.
