22-23/7/2010 - Last passenger & freight train through Wodonga CBD

Thursday evening & early Friday morning of July the 22nd & 23rd 2010 saw the end of an era as well as History being made. The LAST EVER passenger & freight train rumbled through the center of the victorian rural town of Wodonga. Friday 23rd was the commissioning date of the newly built Wodonga rail bypass which was to eliminate rail traffic through the centre of the town. Many on lookers were out to farewell both trains including the Mayer of Wodonga, locals who had worked at Wodonga & Albury as well as railfans, one of which traveled all the way from Melbourne just to see it. Unsure of what the XPT cars were, the last locos to cross high street were LDP008 and LDP001 on the south bound QRN container. R.I.P. Central Wodonga rail 1883 - 2010.
