The Unspoken Injustice of Youth Justice | Stanley Jones | TEDxJCUCairns

Former Supreme Court Judge Stanley Jones knows that by the time young offenders are standing before the court, it’s often too late to address the problems that landed them there. Stanley believes that, to 'get tough on youth crime', we need look to early childhood and find ways to address toxic stress and childhood disadvantage. The Hon Stanley Jones AO QC, is a retired QLD Supreme Court Judge who had an impressive legal career spanning 42 years. He was awarded an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) for services to education and the law. He has chaired many committees including the Youth Sexual Violence and Abuse Steering Committee and the Communities for Children Cairns South Committee. He is a passionate advocate for early childhood development and supportive of a number of initiatives focused on improving the lives and outcomes for young people. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
