In September 2010, sixteen US Marines were seconds away from walking into an IED field in Helmand Province, Afghanistan. A single voice stopped them cold calm, flat, Northern English. Nobody on the patrol knew who it was or where it came from. When they finally found the man behind that voice, he was standing in a field they'd been watching for two hours. He'd been lying in a shallow depression twenty metres away the entire time. They'd looked directly at that ground. They'd seen nothing.
